about andy

Andy James started his Dj career in of all places a youth club way back in those heady days of the 70's, despite being only a young lad at this time he found he had a knack of making people stay on the dance floor. He was soon on his way to making a career from his hobby "music".

It was in 1978 that he established his first mobile show and since that time he has not looked back, he has gained an enviable reputation throughout Bristol and Bath , Wiltshire, Somerset , Devon And Dorset during these years and made his way into radio working for the GWR Radio Group in the early 90's. Since then Andy has continued to prove his strength's by now specialising in Wedding entertainment rather than do any kind of party, he says that "Wedding's are a challenge, as you normally have just about every age group one could imagine, and to entertain everyone at a Wedding takes a special kind of skill one you only gain with experience".

Over the years technology has changed things dramatically, and nowadays its a computer for this and computer for that, in fact almost all the music you will hear at any of Andy's engagements will be played back from a computer. Even the lighting is computer controlled nowadays and the only things that hasn't really changed say's Andy "is the carrying it all in and out of the venue's. It's hard work with some of our cases being over a 100kg's and when you've carried almost a tonne of kit into a building you then have to carry it all back out again at the end of the night and it always seems heavier at the end of the night funny enough". So imagine, you've just carried all that equipment in and set it all up which takes about 45 mins your hot, your sweating, and then someone say's "right are you ready, you have to stand there in that spot and play non stop music for 4 hours, and we'd like people to dance to all the tracks you play, all this plus taking request's searching for tracks etc whilst thinking ahead maybe two or three tracks of music, you will begin to get an insight into what Andy puts into a nights work. So next time you see a Dj working buy him a nice cold Coke and say well done mate its hard work eh ?

Being a Wedding Dj is somewhat different to Dj'ing at other parties, almost all the music you play has to be suitable for almost any member of the family remembering that you'll probably have your youngest niece of nephew and probably your oldest aunt, uncle or grandparent. Choosing the music is a kind of skill you can't really be shown say's Andy and he should know he's been doing weddings for over 25 years now and very successfully too. I like people to enjoy what I do and I get just as much enjoyment back from watching them enjoy themselves too and I think our customer comments page confirms that what we do we do very well.
